Neighbourhood Policing Update 22/02/2026 Whilst on patrol around Middle Street, PCSOs Walker and Connah were alerted to a shoplifting which had occurred at a local shop. The description of the male was quickly shared and PCSOs Burnip and McKenna soon spotted the suspect in the Town Centre . He attempted to avoid officers but was stopped until further assistance arrived. Thanks to great teamwork, the male was arrested by SGT 2703 and taken into custody by PC 9081, later being interviewed and charged with the offences. We also received a call from a concerned member of the public about a group of youths using a catapult in Middle Street . SGT 2703 along with PCSOs Connah and Walker attended on foot, and with the help of our local CCTV operators , the youths were located boarding a bus . One attempted to run off but was quickly stopped by PCSO Walker. The group were stopped and searched by SGT 2703 with officers then taking appropriate action. Thank you to the public and CCTV team for your support. Speedwatch Results: Offenders will now receive appropriate action. Please remember – speed limits are there to keep everyone safe PC Curtis and PC Guy attended an address to assist the North East Ambulance Service following concerns for an elderly female. Officers gained entry and thankfully the lady was okay and left in the good care of ambulance crews. Our Consett Neighbourhood Officers, alongside our Community Safety Coordinator and Safer Homes Volunteer, attended the Consett Town Centre PACT meeting. It was great to see such a strong turnout from the community. Your concerns have been heard, and officers will now be following up on the issues raised. PCSO 8740 Hart conducted a Cuppa with a Coppa at Lanchester along with our community safety coordinator. It was so lovely to see you and speak to you Whilst out on foot patrols within the town centre, PC 9093 Thompson has conducted 4 stop and searches of people as a result of community led intelligence. PCSO 8740 Hart and PC 9093 Thompson conducted a Cuppa with a Coppa session at Langley Park. It was good to speak to the residents and your concerns have been listened to and will be acted upon.
